The mascot of a Trailblazer was chosen to honor Fr. Augustine Tolton, who was the first African-American who was ordained into the priesthood. He became a pioneer, a person who "blazed a new trail" in American and Catholic history.
Likewise, we expect our students to push their limits and reach for high expectations. We want them to not just go with the status quo, but they themselves need to "blaze a new trail" and make a difference in the community and world as a whole. They will honor themselves, Fr. Tolton, and God by doing this. We are forging leaders and difference makers, not followers!
We will offer an extensive selection of sports for our students. We offer 15 varsity and junior varsity athletic programs. We are Varsity eligible in all sports beginning the school year of 2012-2013. We offer all of the sports that area schools offer, and do so in a faith filled environment!
In the past year we have added our own cheerleading programs, as well as our own baseball program (spring of 2013), and will offer our own softball program in the fall of 2013!
Tolton Catholic High School also participates in a Co-op, under MSHSAA rules, with Calvary Lutheran High School (Jefferson City) to offer a variety of team sports (football, boy's soccer, and girl's soccer). This will allow Tolton Catholic to "grow" its sports and eventually be able to support all team sports itself, as enrollment builds. We host the sports of football and girl's soccer at Tolton Catholic, and Calvary Lutheran hosts boy's soccer. This is an exciting moment in Tolton Catholic high school athletics!
